FAQ

What's so special about GAMA Coffee?

We’re glad you asked. Brew a cup, take a seat, and read up all about us and our vision here.

What is specialty coffee? What difference does it make?

Specialty coffee is coffee that scores higher than 80 points on the SCAA grading system. What this means is that these beans are some of the highest grade and best tasting coffee you can get.

What do the taste notes mean? Is this coffee flavoring?

Coffee taste notes are the roaster’s tool to describe the flavor experience which the particular coffee offers and no, specialty coffee is not flavored. These notes do not mean you will taste exactly what’s written on the label.

Do you sell quantities larger than 200g?

As of now, we only sell 200g bags. We prefer the smaller quantity as this will allow you to try and switch to more origins quicker. More often than not, the coffee has lost its peak flavor before they’re finished. Smaller bags maximize freshness and help avoid wastage. We are however planning on providing bigger bags for the espresso nuts.

Why does it take 3-4 weeks for our coffee to taste its best?

Like most cooking methods, the chemical reactions initiated by roasting coffee releases gasses as byproducts. The coffee then takes a few days to degas depending on the roast degree. After testing, we've found that our beans extract best after 3 weeks or more after the roast date.

Where do we get our green coffee and how do we roast them?

We’ve taken months researching our preferred green coffee suppliers in terms of quality and sourcing practices. We source from a variety of colorful partners: from world brewer’s championship lots to small and promising farms traceable to the supplier. As a small roastery, we aren’t able to source our coffees direct to farm yet, but we aspire to having 100% of our coffees sourced and bought directly. Every purchase helps us get one step closer.

What is a Nordic Roasting style? Do you have an espresso roast?

Simply put, the Nordic Roasting style is roasting beans to the exact point where the coffee will shine its brightest without influencing the flavor through other roasting practices. More often than not, roasting in this style will result in a lighter than usual roast. Only using high quality green coffee is also another factor essential to this style since Nordic Roasts will highlight the natural characteristics of the coffee; other styles will roast coffee darker to cover up unwanted flavors. Want to know more? ROEST has a wonderful article you can read here. As for roasts for espresso, we are looking into offering them soon; please follow us on our socials to stay updated!

Can you grind the coffee for me?

While this isn't ideal for keeping the flavor and freshness of the coffee intact, we can grind the coffee for you. You can pick between grind sizes in our shop! We indicate the grind size in terms of relative settings on industry standard coffee grinders while also recommending the brew method best associated to the particular grind size.

Can you tell me a coffee joke?

It’s bean a while since we told one. We’ve been so busy roasting for you that we forgot all our jokes. We don’t want to just coffee someone else‘s joke.
